Barbara Norrander

Professor, School of Government and Public Policy

Barbara Norrander has been a professor at the University of Arizona since 1990, with a Ph.D. from Ohio State University (1982). Her teaching and research focus on American politics with specializations in elections, public opinion and political parties. She is the author of The Imperfect Primary: Oddities, Biases, and Strengths of U.S. Presidential Nomination Politics (Routledge, 2010) and coeditor with Clyde Wilcox of Understanding Public Opinion, 3rd edition (CQ Press, 2010). Recent articles include “Minority Group Opinion in the U.S. States,” coauthored with Sylvia Manzano, State Politics and Policy Quarterly (2010); “Public Support for Presidential Nomination Reform,” Public Opinion Quarterly (2009); and “The Gender Gap in Latin American: Contextual and Individual influences on Gender and Political Participation,” coauthored with Scott Desposato, British Journal of Political Science (2009).
