New Student Orientation

Congratulations on your admissions to the ISS program! On this page, you will find important information on how to get started in the ISS program. In addition to reading the information provided here, please also review the email from the Graduate College informing you of your admission.

We look forward to having you in class and to count you among our accomplished student body!

Accept Your Admission

Before you an access UA resources, you must "Accept your Admission."

  1. Sign in to the Graduate Admissions Application using the credentials you used to create your account.
  2. Under "My Active Applications" choose your application to this program to view your "Status."
  3. The Status information page includes two boxes. Choose the appropriate box: "I accept admission and intend to enroll" or "I decline this offer of admission."

NetID

Once admitted to the university, you are able to create your UA NetID. Please do this right away!

Your NetID and password grants you access to many resources, including your official UA email account, UAccess, D2L, the UA Libraries, and others. It is critical that you keep track of your NetID and password! The admission's email from the Graduate College has additional information on how to create a NetID. This will provide you with a PIN that, along with your Student Identification Number, you will use to create your NetID and password.

Services that you access with your NetID:

  • Catmail: This is the email system for all UA students. Your new email address will be yourNetID@arizona.edu. Please note that certain offices on campus will only email to your official UA email, including the Graduate College.
  • UAccess: UAccess is the password-protected service used by the University of Arizona that allows you to manage your personal information, register for classes, view grades, request transcripts, and more online.
  • D2L: All of our course sites are on D2L. At the beginning of each session, you will gain access to your D2L course pages.
  • UA Libraries: You have access to a wide array of resources through the UA Libraries including online access to books and articles, delivery of books via mail, and more.

Viewing the Schedule of Classes

The easiest way to view the schedule of ISS courses is to use the ISS website.  This lists all current and upcoming ISS classes in one place.

Registering for Classes

You can register for classes through UAccess. Login to UAccess and click "Search for Classes." From there you will have the option to add courses to your cart and register for them. Note that you can only register during an open registration window. You can find your enrollment dates on your homepage of UAccess.

You are required to register for 500-level courses and above in order to receive graduate credit. If you have been admitted to a graduate degree program you must be officially registered every major academic semester (summers not mandatory) until degree completion, in order to meet continuing registration requirements. Failure to register every major academic semester will require a new application for admission to the Graduate College.  During the fall and spring semesters, you are required to enroll for a minimum of three units of graduate credit. Nine units are considered full time by the Graduate College and the ISS program.

Accessing Your ISS Courses

All ISS courses have course sites on D2L. You will log into D2L using your NetID and password. There are two ways to access your course sites: go to directly to D2L, or sign in to UAccess, find the courses you registered for, and click on the D2L icon next to the course. Course sites will become available the week before your class begins.

Tuition Payments

All tuition payments are handled by the Bursar's Office. You can see your balance and may payments through UAccess. For more on payment options, see the Bursar's Office.
