The International Security Studies program offers two programs. The Master of Arts (MA) in International Security Studies is a 36-credit hour, online program taught by University of Arizona faculty. The program is aimed at military and civilian personnel seeking careers or advancement in careers related to intelligence, foreign policy analysis, and foreign service. It is also aimed at people who work with government, government contractors and nongovernmental organizations with interests in international affairs.
For students interested in international security, but who do not want to engage with the full MA degree, we also offer a Certificate in International Security Studies. The certificate is a 12 credit-hour (four courses) program for students interested in learning more about security issues faced by the global community today.
Certificate students are eligible to transfer to the MA program if they are interested in expanding their studies and they have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the Certificate program. All credits taken as a certificate student can be transferred to the MA.
