Tell us a bit about yourself and what attracted you to this field.

My interest in understanding and addressing global security challenges, particularly in risk management and analysis, inspired me to pursue this field. Growing up in a culturally diverse environment, I developed a passion for fostering collaboration and resolving conflicts across borders. The opportunity to contribute to global stability through research and strategic analysis has been a key motivator in my academic and professional journey.

Have you worked on any interesting projects or assignments during your studies?

One of my most impactful projects focused on geospatial intelligence mapping. Using ArcGIS, I analyzed open-source geospatial data to evaluate security risks and identify patterns in global conflict scenarios. This project highlighted integrating technology with security analysis to produce actionable insights. It also deepened my understanding of research and data visualization's role in risk management and strategic decision-making.

What skills or lessons have you learned during your time in the ISS program?

The ISS program has provided me with essential skills for a career in research and risk management. I have gained expertise in applying open-source intelligence (OSINT) methodologies, conducting in-depth risk assessments, and analyzing complex datasets. Working on academic projects has also enhanced my proficiency with tools like ArcGIS and developed my ability to synthesize data into meaningful insights. Beyond technical skills, I've learned the value of critical thinking, cross-cultural communication, and a solution-oriented approach to global security challenges.

What are your plans after completing your studies?

Upon completing my studies, I plan to pursue a role as a researcher or analyst in security and risk management. I am interested in working for organizations or agencies where I can contribute to developing strategies that promote safety, stability, and equitable outcomes on a global scale.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering this program?

Prospective students considering the ISS program should embrace its unique combination of technical and analytical learning opportunities. The program is an excellent platform to gain a deeper understanding of global security issues and build practical skills like geospatial analysis and open-source intelligence. It also provides a supportive community where you can collaborate with peers and faculty who share a passion for addressing complex international challenges.
